Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children By Ransom Riggs
Published by Quirk Books. With the film coming out at the end of September I decided to pick up the book as a present to myself before heading to University and once I started reading I found it difficult to put down. The novel by Ransom Riggs is the first book in the Miss Peregrine's Series with the fourth due to come later this year. The New York Times bestseller of 2012 is a slightly dark and mysterious YA novel, following the story of Jacob as family tragedy sends him following his Grandpa's stories to a welsh island where the lines between past and future blur together and surprises seem to lie round every corner. The novel is interspersed with some slightly creepy and definitely peculiar photos that in my opinion don't detract from the story line but add to the whole atmosphere of the novel. I found the opening to be engaging and was instantly hooked despite the book slowing down after a chapter or two. I think this was because I had high expectations from the film trailers but the pace soon picked back up and the ending left me desperate to read the second one (Its currently waiting to be unpacked but shall be started soon). I personally can't wait to see the film at the end of this month and I hope it lives up to my experiences of the book. I'd love to hear your opinions of the book or just the series in general, and if like me you loved this book send some recommendations my way. :) If your interested in buying the book I've left an amazon link down below.
